Providing Shelter and Stability

At the CHATT Foundation, we are dedicated to providing safe and supportive shelter options for individuals and families experiencing homelessness. Our comprehensive programs are designed to meet immediate needs and facilitate a path toward permanent housing and self-sufficiency.

Maclellan Shelter for Families

Established in December 2014, the Maclellan Shelter for Families offers emergency shelter to up to 13 families at a time. Each room includes a private bath, and families have access to laundry facilities, dedicated case management support, and the Kitchen’s comprehensive programs serving the homeless.

Cold Weather Warming Shelter

During the coldest months, the CHATT Foundation provides a warm, safe place for anyone on the streets. While blankets and mats are often available, the shelter is not a "night shelter" with beds, but instead a safe, warm space to avoid the inclement weather. Operations typically become 24/7 during these coldest periods.

Permanent Supportive Housing

Our Permanent Supportive Housing program offers case-managed support to help individuals and families find permanent housing as quickly as possible. Once housed, case managers continue to work with participants to ensure stability and success. Placement in properties owned onsite by the Kitchen and offsite is based on acuity of need through a vulnerability index.

Housing Options Include:

  • The House of All Souls: A nine-bedroom home designed to be a quiet, peaceful, and loving home for chronically homeless men with disabilities. Each resident has a private bedroom, with several large common areas within the home, including a den with a fireplace and a library area, as well as a laundry room on both floors.

  • Museum Street: Consists of two separate houses, each with four bedrooms with private bathrooms and a common living room. One house is for homeless women with disabilities, and the other provides housing for homeless men with disabilities. This project was made possible in part by funds provided by the Federal Home Loan Bank and the City of Chattanooga’s Department of Neighborhood Services and Community Development.

Temporary Overnight Shelters

  • Saint Matthew’s Shelter for Men: Offers nightly beds to as many as eight men at a time. Guests of the shelter are involved in programs such as the Homeless Health Care Center’s VIP drug and alcohol program and are referred by case managers. The shelter is open nightly from 5:30 PM until 6:30 AM the following morning.

  • Saint Catherine’s Shelter for Women: The sister shelter to Saint Matthew’s, offering eight nightly beds to women while they participate in self-sufficiency programs.

At the CHATT Foundation, we are committed to providing shelter and support to those in need, guiding them toward stability and independence.
